Please join us for Diversity Dialogues, a series of workshops where students, faculty, and staff will engage in dialogues on topics related to diversity and inclusion with the goal of unifying efforts across Grounds and creating a more inclusive University. Diversity Dialogues will be led by Glenda Russell from the University of Colorado, Boulder and Andrea Iglesias from the University of Virginia. Using the Implicit Attitudes model, Glenda and Andrea will discuss how to bypass the shame and blame often present in dialogue around diversity issues and work with us to develop a common language and strategy to addressing stigma and oppression at a personal, interpersonal, institutional, and climate level to create real change.
This two-day workshop will also feature a number of U.Va.’s diversity and inclusion leaders who will facilitate breakout sessions such as: Multicultural Fluency, Disability Awareness & Tips for Accessibility Allies, and Mentoring Students from Diverse Backgrounds. Representatives from across Grounds are participating in the planning process for this University-wide event. If you have any questions or recommendations, then please contact the planning committee co-chairs: Kristin Morgan (klm3q), Office for Diversity and Equity and Andrea Iglesias (ai3y), Counseling and Psychological Services.
